an ikea wedding
You’d think that googling ‘ikea wedding’ in 2007 would come up with something useful.
It doesn’t.
I got to thinking about googling just that last night while tossing and turning. I’ve been trying to come up with a budget friendly way to copy this table setting for the wedding. We’re only having five tables, so I figure if I can keep it to $20 a centerpiece (not including flowers) than I’m okay. And Ikea seems the simplest way to do it for a few reasons.
1. Ikea is budget friendly.
2. Ikea fosters independent design and gives a slew of choices for tablesettings.
3. Ikea is down the street from my house.
4. Ikea is budget friendly.
5. See all pictures below…
These tealight holders are only 99 cents!

I don’t know what these are, but I like ‘em.

As you can see, Ikea has a gillion things to choose from and I will be stopping by tomorrow afternoon to take my time and arrange some items together for centerpieces.
I’m wavering on my color choices lately, too. The more things I see, the more I just want to do bright colors– this is possibly to justify wearing bright red espadrilles under my wedding dress, but also because I want the occasion to be very loud, bright, happy, fun, exuberant, modern, joyful and exciting. Color is a good way to do that.

going to try on dresses this afternoon!
I’m heading out to two shops this afternoon in San Francisco. A lot of the shops that I’m interested in are not open on Sundays which sucks for me. I’m going to have to take a day off of work and hit up a bunch of shops if I don’t find what I am looking for immediatly. I’m still debating the ebay dress I posted below. Everytime I scroll down and peek at it I’m somehow tricked into thinking it’s me in the photo. Which could be a very serious sign that I need to buy it! The price is right, the cut is gorgeous, it’s a bit big which is better than being a bit small and I love the back detail which I now realize I did not show you all before. Here it is:

Isn’t it just the most wonderfullest dress in the world? The main thing holding me back, other than the obvious ‘buying a wedding dress over the internet’ is that the seller has never sold anything on ebay before. Which means that it could be a scam and since I’ve never bought anything on ebay before, I’m not sure what my recourse is if something shady were to happen.
The place I am going to today carries Nicole Miller dresses. Of the four I am very interested in, they have one. At least I can try them on and see what size I am in her line. I’ve fluctuated between size 4 some places and size 10 some places, so I definitely need to size myself in the Nicole Miller line.
Wish me luck!
dresses
There are so many dresses out there and I end up going back to the ones I loved back in September when Ok first proposed. One is available in my size on ebay for half off it’s usual price. There are some scary thoughts here, of course. It says my size, but who knows? I have never purchased anything off of ebay before and am not sure I feel all that good about doing so. But a Nicole Miller gown half-off is going to be hard to come by. Not to mention that I don’t really want to do the whole wedding dress boutique shopping thing alone and that is my only choice since I have no friends here in the Bay Area. I figure buying online may save me a lot of heartache but will also be risky in terms of fit. I mean, I’ve gotten shoes online that I hated in real life! So is buying a wedding dress on ebay really the brightest thing in the world? I have until the 19th to decide, since that is when the auction expires. I’ll just shut up and post the dress:

modern men’s wedding rings
I’m going to try to type like a normal person this post. Let me know if it’s easier to read.
Moving right along… while doing my normal wedding surfing, which as you probably know, has consumed most of my time the last week or so, I came across some really cute and unique wedding bands. I know that it will be extremely hard to match a wedding band with my current engagement ring and I think I will have to choose one or the other to wear daily. The cool thing about these rings I found is that they’re very unisex and are distinct but still look like wedding bands. See for yourself:

They’re available here.
